Set 97 years after a nuclear war has destroyed civilization, when a spaceship housing humanity's lone survivors sends 100 juvenile delinquents back to Earth in hopes of possibly re-populating the planet.
Within The 100, there are quite a few different concepts present in the show. It is filled with multiple forms of representation and there are many themes present throughout the series. An underlying theme for the entirety of the show that interests me the most is the idea of good vs bad and what ultimately determines these notions.
When watching season 1, this theme is there but it is not voiced. However, in season 2, it is. In episode 13, “Resurrection,” Abby tells Clarke in the end “Don’t forget that we’re the good guys.” Then in the season finale, Clarke tells her mother, “I tried. I tried to be the good guy.” Her mother’s response to her now is that, “Maybe there are no good guys.”
His first words, uttered to Octavia as she showed him kindness after a savage beating from Bellamy in season 1, episode 7, “Contents Under Pressure,” echo in our minds. He hadn’t uttered a syllable before then, and we were starting to believe he didn’t fully understand the language of the Sky People. This was just one of many beautiful moments for Linctavia.In many different times throughout the first two seasons, Lincoln can be seen as a monster, particularly by those who don’t understand his motives. The 100 first see him as the enemy, his own people see him as a traitor, heck, even Octavia sees him as a threat on their first meeting. As we peeled the layers to Lincoln back, we learned that he was not only not a monster, but was the most reasonable foe-turned-friend the 100 could have hoped for.
