Taylor Momsen and Jessica Szohr will not be turning to the the CW drama as series regulars next season, TVLine reports. Momsen and Szohr, who play troublemakers Jenny Humphrey and Vanessa Abrams, have been invited back on a guest star basis.
“Gossip Girl” newbie Kaylee DeFer, who plays Serena’s mysterious cousin Charlie, will return in Season 5 and has been promoted to series regular. Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Ed Westwick and Chace Crawford are all set to return.
Fans of the show probably aren’t too shocked by the news of Momsen and Szohr’s exit. Momsen — who is focusing on her music career — has had a scarce presence in Season 4, only appearing in a few episodes, while Szohr’s character Vanessa seems to have creatively flat-lined.
